MEMBERSHIP

Support our community and get actively involved.

Former player? Partner, parent, housemate, employer or friend of a current player?

Or just Blacks-friendly?  Whatever your connection, Blacks membership is for you!

We remain true to our mantra –
‘One must play for the love of the game’
– and consequently rely heavily on the support of members.

The overwhelming majority of our playing cohort are undergraduate Uni students.

Our Constitution mandates us to do whatever we can to enable our young men and women to become the best they can be, both in football and in life. There are several membership options.

PLAYER SPONSORSHIP

$500

Player sponsorship is our most prized membership category at $500 pa.

Player sponsorship ensures that a sponsored player can take the field each week at no cost to them.

That said, Player sponsorship is about much more than supplying a kit and registration fees to a sponsored player! It’s about providing opportunities to young men and women that no other footy club can provide. After all, our ‘reach’ is vast and our contemporary influence unique.

One day soon, we hope to have every single player at our club sponsored by someone like you. Sponsor your favourite player, man or woman, in any grade, or leave it to us to assign you a player.

Your sponsored player will, of course, be eternally grateful, but typically the gift of player sponsorship works both ways!

Player sponsors (and other members, naturally) get to share in the joy of enabling young men and women in a number of highly meaningful ways.

Player sponsors receive the following benefits:

– Recognition on the web site.

– Regular correspondence in the form of the weekly Blacks newsletter “Substandard”.

– $30 Discount to the very famous long lunch.

– Tax receipt for you or your company.

– Prominent position in the worldwide “Blacks Book” of sponsors.

– Invitation to the “Sponsors Luncheon” at a home game during the year.

– Contact from your male or female player during the season who may be in a like profession.

– Your player is supplied with player apparel including a club polo and track top.

– You player has all their subscriptions paid.

– Ability to vote at the AGM as a member.

If you would like to Sponsor any particular Player in the Club (Male or Female in any grade), please contact Tess Baxter, football@theblacks.com.au

What We Do Best

The AUFC has a long and proud history, with over 100 years on the field..

We are highly Successful

The Blacks have an unsurpassed record in Australian amateur football history. 84 flags (including 28 in Division 1) are a testament to that.

We promote Diversity

We are a proud part of the Adelaide University sporting community, however, membership is not confined to those studying at the UOA. All are eligible and all are welcome!

We are a Community

We find that those who come to the club inevitably stay: the world’s greatest football club does tend to provide a rather compelling environment. It is a place where you make friends for life.

h
We are committed to the fine principles of University Sport

In particular our Constitution demands that we play for no remuneration other than the joy that comes with playing for the love of the game. Everybody at the Blacks is treated equally.’

We like the Social Life

“If winning is all there is, we want no part of it”, a phrase famously coined by AUFC living legend, Chocka Bloch. Chocka once also described the footy club as “a social club loosely based around football”.

The support we have received from our sponsors, members and past players over the last few years has been truly magnificent and it is hugely appreciated by us and especially by the Treasurer.

As you may appreciate the cost of putting ten senior football teams, including three women’s teams, on the park each week has risen dramatically over the last few years, with items such as medical equipment, physios, SAAFL calls, umpires etc all posing a large financial impost on the club on a weekly basis.

Not only have the funds raised through the membership drive allowed us to meet these higher costs but they have also enabled us to keep player subs at a reasonable level relative to other clubs..
